For the last three or four months I've been giving serious consideration to making a secret that says "sometimes I feel like the only Skins fan that doesn't ship this".

Friends, I buy. Close friends even. But they had an amazing story going about how similar they were - however much they tried to pretend not to be - but it hit its crescendo in the book and then they bailed out. Which is a monumental shame, because dragging out the Freddie/Effy/Cook trainwreck was a stupid idea.

But yeah. Katie and Effy had incredible friendship potential, because they were on the exact same page and by the end they finally seemed to get each other. I get the idea behind the femslash (neither of them got a proper ending at the end of S4, Katie can't have kids so that minimises her dick potential, and Pair The Spares is always a fun trope), but the slashers don't seem to realise that they're so similar they'd probably end up killing each other.

God, I definitely don't ship it. I thought series 4 was crappy (the epic, ridiculous shark jump a the end is what made me lose all interest in the series) and would have been much better if they had spent more time with the girl's friendships, especially Katie and Effy.

Honestly, I think the series was reduced to a desperate salvage job after Katie's episode ended and they couldn't think of any plot for her other than ship teasing Keffy.

I can make the shark jump fit the themes of S4 in my head, but sadly that didn't stop it being quite, quite ridiculous.

I think every relationship in s4, romantic or platonic, suffered from sloppy writing.

But yeah, these two had a really interesting dynamic and I would have loved to see it get developed further than it was.

Yeah, I can't think of another way they could have resolved Naomily, really. There were so many unresolved storylines by the finale that there was no way they could resolve all of the issues in under an hour.

I have trouble getting into Katie/Effy even just as friends, due to the fact that Effy landed her in the hospital, only for them to become all buddy buddy in S4.
