That is no where near the worst levels of twee I've seen in author's notes. Still stands as another example of why it's sometimes best to let your comic do the talking.

j-just when her author's note is like..."Posted! **dies** Oh btw you should watch popular movie X because Y and Z are my Oh-Tee-Pee husbandooooooos **cuddles**" that I sorta cringe

The author's notes of All Roses Have Thorns are pretty annoying sometimes

Example: "Frames #2 and 3 are good, really really good. I mean, look at them! They're Great! Faylin looks so good in #2 and in #3, the box, is just WOW! I like. And look *gasp* the first tastes of shonen-ai goodness. Mmmm.
You can see by now I had started using layers the right way, overlapping colors where the layers would cover it"

tbh, I just don't like it when people rave on and on about how good their own art/story is. And she does it at multiple other points too

This makes me happy my own author's notes tend to be short. I don't gush (I'm my own worst critic) but I could easily ramble about the music I listen to while working at length. Errrk.

I never read that comic and have no idea what's about, but maybe the author is trying to come across as approachable? Especially if it's not a super ubber famous comic, they might think it's nice to let the fans know that there's someone behind it all (obviously, but people tend to forget) and try to be friendly?

`/2 cents, 'cause from that excerpt I don't get any creepy/uncomfortable vibe.

This is what I gathered. Some people engage their fanbase more than others. Some people gush more than others too, s'bound to happen.

I know a fanfic author like that. Her stories are both well-constructed and heartwarming, and she does justice to obscure characters; but she and almost all of her readers emgage into fangirl mode and slap on so much squee in the comments section. I get mood-whiplash and second hand embarrassment after reading something serious and then seeing the author want to 'huggle' a character. (And yet I still read the comments because some readers ask questions and her explanations are so good!)

I read the comments section in fanfiction, too but only when it's posted on LJ or DW. I don't have a nice reason for it like you do, though. I'm just nosy. :P

It looks like it's just a hobbyist comic. Why would she need to be professional about it?

I mean, some people just do things to have fun.
