I'm glad I'm not the only one! I've heard a lot of people who aren't familiar with the series praising the new design. But even though I have never played a DMC game, I have no interest to start with the new one. The new design is so ugly and generic. He looks like every hipster kid's wet dream.

The one on the left looks fun.

"Fun" is a good way to put it. Old Dante is the epitome of fun. He is over the top, garish and flamboyant. He loves life, loves killing things, and has fun with everything he does:


Then Ninja Theory's Tameen came along and said "Hey gamers! You're idiots for liking the old Dante! What he needs to be is gritty, dark, realistic and a smoker. He also needs to look like me!"

IKR? Old Dante may have been cheesy and over the top, but a least he didn't look like he'd blow over in a stiff wind. He could bench-press noodle boy there without even breaking a sweat.

I've never played DMC4 and I still giggled and clapped with delight at that scene. Dante is amazing.

... Thanks to the first clip I really wanna play DCM. Dante seems to be right up my alley.

So, could anyone tell me if DMC1 is a good place to start or are any of the following games better?

I'd say you can't do anything wrong with starting with DMC1 :) It's the first one I played and I loved it. DMC2 is bad though, so hands off of that one XD the other two are fine :)
