Also, aside from some of the gag characters, I don't see how any of the main cast in Girly were sex objects? I mean, they were designed to be sexy, yes, but that's not enough to make a character a sex object. I've always thought sex objects were characters that were there to just fill up a "attractive female" slot and be the character the audience can see themselves wanting to pork. You don't get the chance to empathize with them as people, you don't get to see how they think and why they make the decisions they make... they're just props for other characters. And that's different than male-gazey designs. You can have a pretty girl in a turtleneck and jeans, and if she's just there to be somebody's love interest, she's still an object. And you can have a character who's got a male-gazey design, but who's written as an actual person.
Male-gazey designs still are problematic and I could totally understand calling out Girly for that. But uhhh... the comic spent a lot of time getting in Otra's head. The audience was supposed to feel for her and understand her and relate to her (and somewhat with Winter, especially towards the end.) The audience was supposed to see their relationship as loving and meaningful, not just boner-inducing, and honestly I feel like Otra and Winter's relationship is a lot more representative of my relationship with my partner than some comics I know of written by actual lesbians.
So yeah, not the OP, but I actually AM so starved for representation of lesbians that I'm grateful for something sweet, funny, and relatable, even if it does have problems.
