Evil Diva is fucking horrible now. It used to be such a cute, fun comic, and was really one of my favorites! I know it got a lot of shit when the art changed, especially the first time, but I would rather have that slightly wonky art over the horrible writing and direction it's going in now. Even before the whole college thing I was losing interest. I feel like jrhighschool Diva and highschool Diva are two different characters, and I don't think she would've changed that much :/

But what's not exciting about a coming of age high school demon bisexual exploring her sexual identity with her best friend and frat boys? I mean it only started out about a magical wand, awesome twisted mythology and coherent story telling to hook us in for the real hard hitting stuff.

Anon, you just made me really sad because you really hit the nail on the head. The description for the new Diva sounds like a description to cliche, fetish comic (where the creators would never admit to it being a fetish comic) :(

You're giving them too much credit. Writing a decent bisexual character and making her coming-out process and relationships interesting? Nawwww. Girl kissing draws in the fans, baby. Maybe at the most she'll end up nominally bisexual, as a trait to make her "more interesting" and "sexier" to the audience, without actually going into her having real feelings about another girl.

Diva being queer would have been such an interesting plot in the original story too, what with the whole "good" and "evil" stuff turned on its head, and possibly Diva being rewarded in the "evil" context for being queer but still viewing herself as a "good" person and not wanting things to be like that? Pity most of the straight guys out there writing queer girls don't think.
