Have you watched Brothers with Jake Gyllenhal and Natalie Portman and him? I recommend it. I was impressed by Toby's performance.

NGL, I thought he was downright atrocious in that movie. His creepy, blank bug-eyes just kept staring aimlessly around the movie. He really didn't seem to know what was going on.

I'm trying to read this secret, but keep getting distracted by those eyes. Damn.

I disagree he's a horrible actor.

But he was a terrible, terrible Peter. The Spidey movies were the worst superhero movies I've watched and he was a big part why.

He was a horrible match. Even worse than George Clooney for Batman.

Whoa, really? The worst? I thought Thor had a lead actor that was a million times worse and goofy than Tobey Maguire. Fantastic Four was better than Spidey? Catwoman? Really?

The spidermans sucked, but I think he's pretty decent in all the other movies I've seen him in. Usually he's supposed to be awkward, like in Wonder Boys.
And I don't care what OP or anyone says, his brief performance in Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas was fucking hilarious.

Haha, I just watched Fear&Loathing for the first time a couple of months ago and had to pause the movie when he appeared because I was loling too hard. Totally unexpected.

Dear Lord that man has pretty eyes. I didn't know they were blue.

I really enjoy the Spidey films, but that's partly because I find his goofy, stilted performance hilarious in a B-movie kind of way. I laughed like a loon through the entirety of two movies (Third movie? What third movie?). Mostly I watch the Spidey films for the scenery-chewing villains.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person in the world who loved the first two movies (third movie, what third movie?).

LOL MTE. I'm still patiently waiting for the third Spidey film to come out. It'll have the Lizard and it'll be amazing alasdlkjfsa

Probably because of my secret penchant for all things awkward and stilted. In my mind Spidey is an awkward character, and that's why I like him - he's not such a prettyboy shiny like certain other heroes. I agree that the movies weren't cinematic gold by any means, but I enjoyed them :)

He wouldn't make me avoid a movie, but sometimes he is really bad.

I feel like the only person who really, genuinely enjoyed the Spiderman films (and not in a "lol this sux haha" way) I really loved them.

but I'm not a movie buff and have seen comparatively few movies, so maybe that's part of it.

I never thought he was a bad actor, at any rate. I liked him in Seabiscuit too, though it's been forever since I've seen that.

I will never forgive him for throwing that shameless party and basically buying his Globe nom for Brothers AND EDGING OUT JEREMY RENNER. NO. NO. NO. NEVER. I don't like him as an actor anyway, but that sealed it. Bring on the reboot. Andrew Garfield ftw.
