I don't think it proves anything.

Now if you bought the issue just because it had reboot Starfire in it, then you'd be proving them right.

I totally thought that was fan-art of Ariel at first.

I didn't know she was anything more than something to fap to.

I really, really dislike the DC reboot. :(

This is kind of what I was going to say. The problem is not that characters are sometimes drawn to titillate, and it's (conditionally?) acceptable for porn to objectify because it's meant to get people off. The problem is cramming that titillation and porny objectification into the regular, non-porn storytelling and expecting people to view the porn star character with depth that isn't there, and of course the fact that this happens over and over and over and over and over.

Agreed completely. I LOVE curvy sex bomb female characters, but I also don't want them to act like...well, the way she acts in that comic, where she's supposed to have a story supposedly. There is no depth to be had here, just make with the porn.

This this this. That page of Starfire would be an amazing poster or part of a cheesecake book. As part of a story, didn't really work.

Yup. The people who aren't seeing the problem keep pointing to the Marvel swimsuit issues in their comparisons. To me, that's missing the point completely.

My favorites are the ones who are saying "SHE'S ALWAYS BEEN SEXUAL AND ALMOST NAKED! IT'S HER CULTURE! DEAL WITH IT!", completely ignoring the years of comic evidence that Kory's people fall in love with multiple people and the sexual side isn't something they always deal with. Of course that would involve seeing the character in multiple dimensions so....

i wonder what the 7 year old girl would think if she read the skimpy starfire in wolfman's run

Wolfman's Starfire spent much of her time protecting her friends and family with profound passion and intense feelings of love.

Lobdell's Starfire is flashing her boobs for the readers while propositioning Roy Harper and is apparently being purposefully written to NOT have feelings or remember the people she cared about so strongly for over 30 years of publication history.

It's very much not about the clothes. If the Teen Titans trade in her hands really belongs to the girl depicted in the article, and she still love Starfire, she realizes this as well.

Smart 7 year old. Gives me hope for the future. :')
