Personally, if it meant comics would have less rape plot devices, I would be happy to retcon/reboot all of them.

I don't even think that counted as a plot device. It was just icing on the pile of plot devices that was that storyline!

"Device" insomuch as it's like the default ~Dramatic~ How To on messing characters up when you've run out of everything else that might within the plot.

Is Damian the only Robin left to rape? I broke up with DC before I could finish my checklist.

Fisting KURT is not about penetration, nor is it to do with the superfice - it's to do with occupation of a space, with becoming joined, with swallowing not piercing... not to mention there's nothing to for KAROFSKY to penetrate, the anus being a hole that has never represented absence - to the contrary often over-flowing fullness but in bodily terms the muscle is the only thing to be penetrated and yet it opens up to the fist, providing more space, schlurping around KAROFSKY'S digits... to pierce the flesh with a sword or a bullet is to damage and destroy, to make a hole where none was before; whereas fisting, if done properly, is to make a whole where there was just hole in KURT before.

Not me. That was just way too over the top. And I already hate when rape is used as a plot device, but this story also added insult to injury by making it seem like a clumsy, half-assed, hastily tacked-on plot device.

This. Dick was already fucked up over the Blockbuster business and betraying Bruce's code, why add the rape?

Yeah. I could see her doing it. i could see it happening. But there, that way? No. Just no. Too stupid to be anything but stupid.

ugh. I don't understand DC's obsession with having guys raped and then not even treating it like it's at all important. Hell, did they actually retcon rape into Damien's conception?

And then there's poor Ollie who got raped and straight up blamed and yelled at for it by Black Canary (which was so stupid and I just have to pretend she never did that because it just doesn't make sense. ilu Black Canary, I don't blame you for that shitty writing)

Seriously. With the recent attempted rape of Tim where he pretty much went "Oh, rape? Okay whatever" totally nonchalant like it was an expected rite of bat passage I just had to give up. DC, YOU HAVE A FUCKING PROBLEM. Everyone needs to step away from the rape storylines already.

Or they'll use it to make bad guys seem even worse. Have a villain that doesn't seem quite evil enough? Make him a rapist to really get the point across! (I think Dr. Light was a pretty infamous example of this. It got to the point where fans were like "They might as well go ahead and rename him Dr. Rape" And I think it was Plastic Man who joked that one of his super powers was probably rape, because that's all he talked about)

They don't have very talented writers handling those situations very well. Hell, rape in general always seems extremely poorly handled in any context in comics.

Indeed. The only one that actually seemed to have a "reasonable" outcome was poor Gloria Stanson, and she was a plot device for a controversy that had nothing to do with her, in the end. ~~20 years later I still hope Jason did actually shove that sonofabitch to his death. Don't care if Robins aren't "supposed" to do that.~~

And if one looks at things from the skewed reality that cape comics create as a genre, Jessica Jones.

Why?

Wish I knew. I just do, which means I have a ludicrous and rather morally undefendable desire.
