You obviously have some internal misogynistic feelings

Are you trolling or srs? It's hard to tell.

IDK what your friends are like, but I think I'm getting you. You like the roles these characters play, minus the gender? Hell, I've always had male role models that I wanted to be exactly like, minus the being a man part. Try your friends out, they might get it.

I'm a straight cis female and I identify more with male characters from some of my fandoms than I do with the female characters. It's not that big a deal. It just means I need to have more things in common with a character than the both of us having a vag in order to identify with them, and that sometimes means I end up identifying with male characters. *Shrug*

Does the gender of the character matter? Surely what you should be paying attention to is whether you like the character regardless of gender.

As It is I'm in the same boat as you, there are some female characters I love in many different shows, but on a whole I simply relate to males more.

I simply know the kinds of character I like and relate to, and very few who fit into this bracket are female.

A sign of a well written character is that anyone can relate to them.

And let's be honest, male character's tend to be written better than female character's. Because with female character a lot of times there's this emphasis on them being female, rather than just letting them be a person [that other people can relate to].

I laughed way more than I should have.

I don't think there's anything weird about that, honestly. In fiction there are certain roles and character types that are mostly filled by male characters and others that are mostly filled by female characters, but that doesn't mean that those roles are inherently masculine/feminine or that women who identify most with characters of a type that happens to be mostly male must have gender issues. The whole thing is mostly pretty arbitrary. And male characters, I think, have a greater diversity in the types/roles available to them anyway.

Hm, I often experience that too, but i think in my case it's more that the type of character I identify with isn't generally written as female. So maybe it's not that you identify more with males than females so much as that the character type you identify with best is almost exclusively written as male characters?

tbh this is me. Every major role model I had growing up was a dude, and that's reflected in my current relationship - I worry more about providing for my girlfriend than just about anything else. Which, to me, is a traditionally masculine role.

I think I'm being rambly and incoherent but BASICALLY OP is me and I am OP and I get it.

I'm a transguy and I tend to identify more with female characters than male ones.

Yep. Identification is a funny thing.

Hey, it's not your fault that in general - and in kids shows especially - male characters tend to sit on a bell-curve that is better written, has deeper stories, is more badass and picks up chicks more (although in a heteronormative society I guess that one's a given). You should relate to whoever you want, but IF there is a problem it's that there aren't more well-written, deep, badass, magnetically attractive, bringing-home-the-bacon chicks who you can relate to.

If it's any consolation, Cyclops is awesome in Evolution. "Then take it... RAW!"
