for just you or a group of people? easy/hard? there's a whole ton lol

Just search Youtube for "kpop dance version" and you'll get tons of videos with just the dance cut (ie. no close up singing or filler scenes) or rehearsal videos shot head on.

On the topic of dance, I kinda wish Westerner music embraced dance in its music more. A lot of popular Asian songs have an associated dance with their songs that become just as popular as the music. All we've got is Thriller, YMCA and Bye Bye Bye...

i don't even really stan them, i'm just like constantly awed by their choreo. they are really awesome at what they do. i just wish woollim would give them a break. six promo periods IN ONE YEAR. :/

Ah, it's cool. I just thought it was amusing that we both posted different Infinite videos at the same time. I want to give their choreographer an award, the stuff they come up with is amazing.

And ugh I know. 8C It's nerve-wracking being an Infinite stan, it's only a matter of time before one of them collapses or something. :T

Obligatory watch if you're looking for awesome dances, imo:

Basically what the person above me said, most companies release dance/rehearsal videos of their artists because they encourage people to learn the dances lol.

Speaking of AKB48, the dance to their song River is the first to come to mind.

I really love SHINee's "Juliette" and Brown Eyed Girls' "Sign" for dances. Super Junior's "Sorry Sorry" is also a favorite of mine, but it's not very impressive, just really fun to do.

This one is always fun :-D

[identity profile] jewelia13.livejournal.com 2011-10-26 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
Oh... kay. Personally, I find AKB48's dances to be quite simplistic due to the number of people they have performing them, while SNSD/KARA/etc. can focus more on the individual members. I still end up knocking myself over when I try the Genie leg-kick. /lolno1curr

Try watching some of Black Queen's covers and then see if that changes your opinion any. :)

[identity profile] writerserenyty.livejournal.com 2011-10-26 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
YES! I agree! (Although IMO SKE48>AKB48 in terms of pure dancing skill, and after seeing N1 I think that NMB48 has the potential to be better dancers, too).

I think he big thing with KPop dances is that they're usually meant to be danced along to. My Korean friend once told me that it was a big popular thing to learn the dances to popular songs of the day, and so usually it seems that KPop dances have a move in there that's easy to learn (i.e. the move for "a ha~" in After School's Bang, the chorus to SNSD's Gee) where as AKB doesn't have that obligation as much, ESPECIALLY for their stage songs where I think they're strongest as a whole.

[identity profile] anthropomorphe.livejournal.com 2011-10-26 01:11 pm (UTC)(link)
i remember you telling me about all the AKB48 members and i was adamant that i'd hate AKB48

my friend linked me to a live of theirs

i didn't hate it

:(

[identity profile] writerserenyty.livejournal.com 2011-10-27 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
=D Yay

I seriously love them. So much that I'm writing a serious paper about them for a class. To be fair it's for my Mass Media and Popular Culture class, but still, haha.

[identity profile] anthropomorphe.livejournal.com 2011-10-27 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
omg i love them too

miyazawa is totally my favourite but akimoto is SUCH A HANDSOME WOMAN i don't even-- plus i am having so much fun watching majisuka gakuen 1 & 2 that it's not even funny and i don't understand why i love them so much

LOL I HAVE GIVEN UP QUESTIONING IT and i will surrender myself to the AKB48 black hole :(

I agree some AKB48 choreography is really fun and clever, like "RIVER", "Beginner", and NMB48's "Zetsumetsu Kurokami Shoujo". However, the majority of the members are terrible dancers. I love that about them, that they try really hard even if they aren't great, so I'm not saying it in a bad way. K-Pop dancers are definitely more technically proficient, though some of their dances can be a little repetitive.

[identity profile] anthropomorphe.livejournal.com 2011-10-26 01:10 pm (UTC)(link)
comparing AKB48's "beginner" to the generic k-pop run and

yeah AKB48 > k-pop
