That is not so unusual with older people from conservative or overly religious countries.

You are from a new generation, which is probably more liberal than hers was, so I can see why she would feel that way about a supernatural tv show.

She reminds me of the people who insisted Pokémon, Dungeon and Dragons and the like are demonic. It's done more out of ignorance than of genuine malice, I can assure you.

Just don't bring up the topic with her and you'll be fine. There is no need to upset your grandmother needlessly.

I was raised in a household with my grandmother who thought that demons were responsible for everything.
Weird noise in the house? Demons.
Implacable smell? Demons.
I'm in a bad mood? Demons.
Not sure whether she was schizophrenic or just superstitious. I was a little relieved when she died, tbh.

When Buffy was about mid-series, I had a great-aunt stay with me, and I had to go to a friend's house to watch it because she would go absolutely batshit when I would try. She would say it was evil/demons/etc.

If you think there'd be no compromising, I agree with the others, maybe you should enjoy without telling her?

YMMV, OP. I taped X-Files (when it was in the Friday night time slot -- when it was *good*), had Crime Scene tape slapped up over my door, plenty of X-F fan-posters around (along with Star Trek, Babylon 5, etc.) and watched X-Files religiously (pun intended) .... and there was never any issue, even though my religion (and my life experiences -- I'm 35, btw) have demonstrated the evil powers / principalities / etc. are real.

X-Files / BEM / cloned bounty hunters / other SF shows? Not so very much. I can remember sermons using SF as talking points, but always as fiction, and with the key that, "Hey, this isn't real, and we know this isn't real, but it makes a very good point. And here is what we *do* know is real (hope for the future / universal salvation / etc etc etc.)."

If your grandmother's religion can't separate between fiction and reality, I'd like to suggest that her religion may not be a healthy one....
