I hope you're talking about offshoots of the Nazi Party and not the people of Germany, because they have paid for what was done many times over.

You are not directly and personally affected if you are the descendent of someone who was harmed. You don't get to play that card. Unless you were affected by what was done, you are not directly and personally affected. You are feeling sympathy and anger for another person, which isn't the same thing and is mostly why Germans are still feeling the backlash of a political regime seventy years after the fact.

There is nothing wrong with defending a people who were not necessarily involved with the schemes of the Nazis. Many men were threatened into doing what they did and many more fought the Russians and died for it. To assume that every German was a Nazi is to be wrong. Some of the greatest Nazi resistors came from the Germans, including Hans Oster, Carl Goerdeler, Ulrich von Hassell, Johannes Popitz, the Kreisau Circle, Friedrich Olbricht, Rudolph Christolf Freiherr von Gersdorff, Axel von dem Bussche, and the White Rose. Yet Germans as a whole are still inculcated with a government they long since abandoned, one many of them did not want and actively sought to destroy.

You are not directly and personally affected if you are the descendent of someone who was harmed.

Blatantly wrong. Not affected in the same way, obviously, but the children of survivors are certainly affected by what their parents lived through, just like the children of Nazis were/are affected by what their parents had done. This kind of trauma doesn't just disapppear in a generation, there are plenty of psychological studies to this affect.

And before you start accusing me of talking about something I don't know anything about, I'm from Austria.
