Also it really kind of bothers me when anyone ships them romantically with Jeanne reciprocating. Uh...do you know anything about her life, people who think that? Especially anyone who thinks they had sex, oh God what.

Sorry to disappoint! To be fair, a few of the comments in this thread thus far excluding my own don't seem to agree with the headcanon, so we may not be as alone as we think. I'm personally just glad that I finally feel like I can speak my mind about this pairing without worrying about someone jumping down my throat for not shipping it 8|a

It's okay! I have been seeing more people disagree with it, thankfully. And yes, the discussion in this thread is excellent. I'm glad to see it's not flooded with "omg they're so cute together" type comments, too.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I was afraid to speak up at first, too, but over time the fear of getting dogpiled wasn't strong enough to cancel out how disgusted I am with the way the fandom disrespects Joan of Arc's memory in the name of kawaii shipping ='|.

So have I. Even if only a small portion of the fandom feels that way, knowing that people who share our thoughts exist at all makes me feel less alone, which is another reason why I'm more comfortable with stating my opinion on this pairing than I was in the past.

You know, it's kind of funny because I used to love this pairing as well until I thought it over a little more. It's interesting how fandom opinions can change that way!

Yeah, exactly. Plus this obviously can't be that prevalent of a ship and headcanon; most of the fandom hates girls and ignores historical figures, after all. It just feels overwhelming because of how disrespectful it almost always is.

You've got a point there. If you're a fan of a character, then of course certain pairings involving that particular character will stand out more even if the pairing itself isn't actually that popular overall. I also agree with your last statement, as I personally find it difficult to enjoy a pairing if I don't appreciate what people do with the characters most of the time, and this is definitely one of those cases.

Yeah, definitely. Like how some Austria ships tend to seem like the most popular thing ever to me, but no, that's just because I focus so much on Austria. And yeah, same. Sometimes if I like the "right" characterization for it enough I'll ship it anyway, but that's rare. Then ofc with this case there's the whole issue with how Jeanne isn't a fictional character, she's a real person who was a hero and who had a lot of things that she believed in and stood for and chose for herself, and ignoring those things is disrespectful, even in this context.

Yeah ;;. That or figure out better how to balance your time. Allow yourself X amount of hours for AIM and Y amount of hours for focusing on school, and all that. I have the same problems, though, it's so easy to let the internet take over, so 's not like I'm ~judging~ you on that one. I'm just as bad.

Precisely. Sometimes it really does depend on how much you pay attention to any one character. Even without taking that into account, however, what you said about Jeanne being a non-fictional character still stands. The thing that baffles me most is that a lot of the people who enjoy this pairing claim to have a great deal of respect for Jeanne, but … augh, I dunno.

I think it's just because I have two difficult classes this semester, honestly, whereas last semester there wasn't a single class on my schedule that I hated going to. The good news is that I've got 90% of my projects out of the way, though, which was taking up the majority of my time since I had to finish those on top of the daily homework I was already getting. OTL

Yeah, I've never understood that. If you respect Joan of Arc so much, why aren't you respecting that she chose to be celibate because romantic and/or sexual entanglements would be a distraction?

Yeah, that's definitely a part of it, I'd assume. Budgeting time is difficult regardless, but it's even worse when you have classes you hate since your natural instinct is to avoid them. It's good that you're almost done with your project, though!
