Sorry to spam with non-fandom related things, but I felt this was important enough to warrant a post. Somebody was erroneously namedropped in the thread in yesterday's post regarding a rapist, and is dealing with the fallout of it now -

Seriously guys, please doublecheck before dropping actual names/usernames in serious issues like this. I'm all for people being safe, but not for dragging innocent people through the mud as collateral damage. These two people are pretty obviously not the same person.

I'm not sure why the comparison has to be made, honestly.

It's bad that an unrelated individual got swept up in this.
It's bad that there's a serial rapist at cons out there.

... they can both be bad at the same time. Thinking one is bad doesn't negate the other.

Exactly. Thinking one is worse than the other doesn't mean you think the horribleness of the crime justifies false accusation.

The thing that irks me most is they mentioned him receiving death threats the sentence before, tacked on a "This is bad, mmkay?" notice, and then continued to go on saying despite all that the guy's personal life would probably continue on as if nothing had happened.

That and in the very thread that got posted here, they outright told the guy "Well you said some not very nice stuff in the past so it's your own fault people think you're a rapist."

whyljrpwhy isn't even a member or is even watching fandsomsecrets and admits on their profile they don't even visit anoncomms. It seems like the only reason they even showed up was to stir shit up and send a lynch mob after whoever they could because even after this guy proved himself innocent, they still cast doubt and blamed him for letting himself be suspect in the first place.

Sorry to rant on about this but it's a fucking shame when something like this happens to an innocent person and yet sometime still stands there in the shadows and still persists to try and get them ruined for something.
