You're kidding, right? Ever hear of locked fic posts where you have to friend them just to get to the stories? Hell, most people I've friended, I've friended just track their fic on their journals even if it's not locked. Sometimes it's b/c I liked their more personal or fandom posts but mainly it's to track their fic on my lj friends page so I don't have to bookmark on Delicious their journal, remember I've bookmarked it and to check it for more fic. This is why I like Dreamwidth more. I can friend them but deny access to my private, locked posts while tracking their public fics on their journal. I was in heaven when I discovered LJ's tracking function works even for free accounts in tracking journals and tags and posts. I don't have to friend anymore anymore. I may be doing a friends cut soon.

For real now? Fanfic isn't enough of a priority to me that I need to friend "artists" just because they have some weird vanity issue about their precious writing. My fandoms are big anyway, plenty of great writers who love to share.

TBH, people like you kinda skeeve me a bit.

I don't generally shove my personhood into my readers faces, but I like to be treated as an ordinary person, and if knowing I have a face bothers you... that's kinda dehumanizing.

And if someone can't tell the difference between me and the fics I write, that's really creepy. My porn is the misbegotten child of my imagination, not me. It's its own thing.
