Okay but, have you seen it dubbed though?

It came out dub-only in theaters when I went to go see it with some friends, so that was our only option. And I have no regrets, it was fucking hilarious.

Eh, I usually watch anything/everything dubbed because trying to watch the show while still reading the subtitles tends to give me headaches. This includes anime, and live-action, so...

Yeah, it's not a disability, it's just me. And I do it, so... No, it has nothing to do with "don't you want to hear the actors original delivery".

Judge away, I'll be over here, enjoying the hell out of these movies.

I disagree with the judging part but I agree with your point. A drawn character has no voice so I have zero problem with animation dubs, but an actor has their own voice that goes along with their physical performance to make a whole. I don't really like removing that part of their performance.

I can't stand to watch live-action stuff dubbed.

But some people just really cannot stand subtitles. I don't exactly "get" it, myself, but... I don't judge either.

I do not especially care if they are dubbed or not, although I have not seen them dubbed, maybe it is terrible. I just want to say 'OH MY GOD THEIR LOVE'. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

I preffer to watch dubbed films. Nowadays, most movies rely heavily on visuals and simply aren't made to be watched with subtitles. When watching a movie, I want to have an experience as close as possible to the one intended by the director. Yes, I know the "original experience" includes the actors' actual voices, but I can't have everything.

Also, I don't know what's the situation in other countries, but where I live, the translations in subbed movies are usually quite sketchy and dry -they have to be, if they want to keep a decent font size-. There are lots of things that get lost. Dubs take some artistic licenses, but I feel they are overall richer and better adapted than subbed versions.

I prefer subs myself, but only because genuinely good dubs are the minority. Really, find a good dub of something and you'll forget it's not the original actors talking.

Where's some info on this? I'm curious. I knew some of the folk in the ADV dub and I'm wondering why I haven't heard of this before via them. O_o

I hate dubs even in animation (it's nigh impossible to get any sort of decent translation of what's actually being said if you have to mutilate the translated dialogue to fit it with the mouth movements and the original line lengths), but I agree that live action dubs are so much worse.

And yeah, I don't understand why anyone wouldn't want to hear the original actors, either. It's another step away from really experiencing the actual show and it makes absolutely no sense.

I usually avoid dubs, both because the voices are often annoying and because, if the lines aren't synched up correctly, I get distracted and can't watch it. I do try to switch to English every so often just to hear the dub voices, because I'm curious. And sometimes the dub version is actually really funny. Tokyo Zombie is really good in both dub and sub forms.
