I loved the Thor movie and I thought Tom Hiddleston was enjoyable in the role, but I was not prepared for the fandom reaction to him. Holy crap. While the 'troubled villain' often gains a lot of fangirl love, the love for Loki basically eclipsed everything else about the film, including Thor. And Thor was hot. I don't have a problem with it or anything - while there is the tiny percentage of batshit fans, that happens in every fandom, and for the most part the Hiddleston fangirls just seem exciteable and like they're having a lot of fun. Plus, they have great gifs. But a selfish part of me hopes that when the Avengers is released there'll be a bit more attention for Thor on the memes that doesn't revolve around Loki. There's so much Loki stuff already, I just want a little Steve/Thor, Thor/Tony or Steve/Thor/Tony in the mix. ;)

I remember watching Thor and thinking how freaking HOT Chris Hemsworth was that I didn't even notice anyone else in the movie so the Loki loved surprised me a lot.

Yeah, this is basically what happened to me. I saw the film, dramatically flew to the Internet thinking everyone would have had a similar reaction to me, which was basically "oh God, Thor was so hot, and I think there might have been other people in the movie but I couldn't hear them over the overwhelming hotness that was Thor and did you see his arms?!?!" And then found pretty much nothing but Loki fangirling. It didn't bother me, since I have a lot of experience fangirling for minor or lesser loved characters. It's just the first time for me that a minor character in fandom was the main character in canon. XD

Me too! Chris Hemsworth was the best thing about that movie. (Well, that and Idris Elba.)

haha I'm with you on the unexpected fandom reaction. Loki blew up waaay more than the average troubled villain. I'm the opposite about the rest though, usually the main guy blows up and the antagonist gets a little niche and I tend to lean towards antagonists instead of protagonists. I think guys like Thor and Steve are just too perfect! and heroic! and already get the good stuff in the movies so it was nice to see Loki get mainstream fandom treatment. Don't worry though that group of guys will surely inspire a lot of fanstuff regardless of Loki. They're all too hot not to :)

every avengers promo or trailer that comes out gets the same reaction: ~where's loki, not enough loki, why isn't loki featured in the poster with the heroes :((, ~loki army!!1

well now you just sound really bitter and upset anon. Nothing you described is out of line with usual fandom behavior. You know it wouldn't be annoying or bizarre if you liked him. I wouldn't expect any fanworks of the avengers yet anyway considering the film isn't out yet.

Thor is very, very hot. I want Thor in a way I don't want very many at all. I've been enjoying the few Thor/Tony, Thor/Steve/Tony, Thor/whoever (not Loki) fics that I've found (check AO3 for fics, it's where I've found them mainly).

I don't quite get the Hiddleston/Loki love as I don't find him attractive in a hot way. I think he's nice and nice-looking but not hot.

After I saw the movie, I bet myself there was slash on the Internet with them, but I didn't actually see slash in the movie itself. My slash goggles failed me and they never do.........Yeah, I'll read and enjoy the slash fics but I love the gen, brother-type, bromance fics more and that almost never happens....

To be honest, I really love both Loki and Thor, perhaps Loki a little more, but I love more than anything else their bond as brothers and so I want more of that forever and ever and ever. :D I am super excited for Tony+Thor, though! And Steve+Thor in the movie since it looks like they'll be fighting each other at one point.

I loved Loki (though I'm looking forward to him being less weepy, more angry), but I admit I came out of the theater wanting someone to fangirl about Thor with too. And yea...there was pretty much no one. D:

I never really got into the fandom partially because of the overwhelming Loki fixation, so I agree with you on hoping in Avengers fandom Thor gets more attention. I've been wanting Steve/Thor, Thor/Tony, and Steve/Thor/Tony since the movie was announced. Not holding my breath that there will be much of it though, because I imagine the most popular pairings will be Everyone/Loki and Steve/Tony and everything else might be a little harder to find.
