You're definitely not alone, anon, and you will probably get shitloads of comments slagging her off. Personally, I think she's adorable and I've found her at least engaging in everything I've seen her in, but I know that she's never going to be everyone's cup of tea because nobody can please everyone. The more popular with the press an actress is, the more hatred seems to breed around her, and Keira's very popular so there's a lot of hate. But being angry at her for 'taking' parts that could go to other actresses makes it seem like you're taking your dislike of her a little personally. There are plenty of other actors and actresses out there who are being cast in great roles or headlining their own movies who aren't especially talented.

No, I can see where the OP is coming from-- more than once I've been interested in a movie, only to discover that, damn, Keira Knightley is the star, which will render the thing nigh unwatchable. I'm tired of her ruining movies that would have been good without her!

Oh, please. Not everything comes down to popularity&hatred as people so love to throw around. Has anyone in this thread hated on her as a person? No, they all have valid criticisms of her acting ability. You liking her =/= those that don't are being jealous. I don't see what's so personal about wanting someone else in a role either?

Pirates of the Caribbean got better after she left. I prefer Penelope Cruz over her as a heroine.

I'm going to have to disagree, but only because the writing was shit after the first one. Penelope Cruz is a far better actress than Knightley, but the fourth pirates was so shitty, I can't even. Numbers two and three were pretty crap too. I thought the first one was kind of fun, though.
