Am I the only one that likes her acting at all? Jeez.

I'd recommend watching Never Let Me Go, tbqh. I mean, I do enjoy her in other movies (Atonement is <33, even though Saorise Ronan pretty much outacts everyone else period), but IMO Never Let Me Go is one of Keira's best performances, and is a movie more people should see in general. One of the best films of 2010, no doubt about it.

It is? I read the book that the movie was based on for school and I didn't really like it (being required reading might have factored in to it) so I didn't bother with checking out the movie.

I can definitely see it being not everyone's cup of tea (being a pretty slow story, the fact it never fully explains the science, etc.), but I thought it was beautifully filmed, beautifully acted (the child actors they used were some of the best, I swear), and ultimately very moving to me.

In fact *SPOILER SPOILER* I think when Kathy meets Ruth after Ruth has become a donor, that's some of Keira Knightley's best acting I've seen her do.

Well I mean I've read the book so I have some idea of the tone and I know the story (unless they changed a lot, idk), but I've heard some things about the movie so I never bothered. I might give it a go now.

I haven't read the book (though I've been meaning to, when I'm not so busy at work and at school), so I'm no help with if it compares. Still, for what it's worth, I thought the movie was excellent.

ooh, yay! I'm glad to see another Keira fan around here. I've been a fan of hers for years, and it surprised me when I first saw the hate she inspires. I think she's wonderful!

I definitely agree, but I think that part of that might be the fact that Carey had the more substantive part than Keira did. Even though I'm a fan of Keira's, I definitely think that Carey is a better actress in general. Just hearing that she was scouted for NLMG because of her work in An Education makes me happy. :)

Also, your icon <33 Reminds me of Atonement, another Knightley film, haha. Though even there IMO Saoirse Ronan outacts most of the cast. But I'm a big fan of James McAvoy, too.

Dude, seconded so hard. I'm honestly baffled at all the hate in this thread o-o I didn't know people disliked her so much, but yeah I love her to pieces. I think she's a marvelous actress, and yeah, she was extremely good in Never Let Me Go.

She was okay, but I feel it was the material that elevated her acting, not the other way around. And this is with the movie letting me down a little to begin with. This is basically how I feel how Knightley in general: she's decent when she's in a good film, but mostly just average.

I don't think she's a stunning actress, but I do respect her and I fell in love with her commentary on the Pirates DVD, haha. I don't know what's up with the hate, she's not terrible.

I do. She's not the best actress ever, but I've seen her on stage twice and she was rather good actually. On screen she's sometimes better than others, but I like her presence if that makes sense.

I've actually enjoyed her in everything i've seen her in, which is on the PotC, Love, Actually, and Bend it Like Beckam. I don't know what else she's been in but, you know....

Not like i could do what she's doing, so that makes her 'good' in my mind.
