For the most part, I loathe the fashion/hair/clothes designs in FF. It's embarrassing to see them act so serious with such ridiculous clothes. (Blah blah different cultures, we would look ridiculous to them, just see how fashion morphs through time in different parts of Earth, blah blah blah.)

Oh man, I hate the whole "they'e a different culture. That's how they dress" thing. No. Seymour dresses stupidly even by FFX standards. If he wore a tighter kimono-esque design (similar to Yuna) it would make sense. But that...rainbow colored monstrosity is, as far as I can tell, not standard amongst the maesters. Seymour just dresses like a douche.

Same goes for FFX-2 Yuna. "She dresses in hot pants because she's not a summoner any more." Well the other summoners didn't dress in robes, so presumably Yuna wore the robes because she liked them. Not because they were a summoner thing. :/

The thing with the different culture argument, is that it would only work if the fashion had a good reasoning behind it, but we never get to see it.

Things in a fictional setting have to make sense and fit well with all the other things, or else they come across as ridiculous.

Not to mention, the fashion of Spira doesn't seem to have a particular logic or trend behind it. The fashion of the islanders doesn't seem to differ from the fashion of the Guado which doesn't seem to differ from the fashion of the people in Macalania and so on.

Everyone seems to dress in anything, and none of the outfits seem to make any sense from a practical or cultural standpoint.

You don't think so? I'm honestly suprised. I've always enjoyed the fact that it's really easy to distinguish between the Yevonites, the Al Bhed, the islanders, the Guado etc. I think the fashion for each culture was quite distinctive. Maybe it's just me.

I agree that there doesn't seem to be much of a reasoning behind it, from a practical standpoint. Most of it is quite ugly and bizarre, too, aside from Yuna and Auron's outfits.

Yeah. I love Lulu, but she's a woman who lived in a tropical area when she isn't escorting important people on dangerous journeys.

And she stays in her top only by the grace of Yevon and the T rating. The belt skirt and trailing hem don't help either.

Exactly! If she lived in a more template/cooler area, and if she worked, I don't know, as an entertainer or one-hundred percent in magical arts, it would make sense. But nope. Not practical at all.
