IA that Shinji hate (for the reasons you described) makes no sense to me. That's also how I feel about all the hate Sayaka (and Madoka, to an extent) gets in Madoka Magica fandom. You have middle school kids put into an enormous position of power, who witness tons of violence and have people close to them get hurt/die left and right, and you expect them to...what? Shrug it off? What a fundamental misunderstanding of basic human psychology.

But unless you're referring to people who rag on him for being "unmanly" or a "pussy" or whatever (and if you are, it might have been a good idea to mention it), claiming everyone who hates one male character is a misogynist makes no sense whatsoever.

I love Sayaka and Madoka and dislike Shinji. It's not really anything against Shinji though - I just think Evangelion was written worse than Madoka.
