I totally agree with you on that pairing thing. That amused me, but I could never do it... I think I get the most anxiety joining a roleplay from the pairing stuff. Who's going to want to, or not want to? How many people's feelings I'm going to hurt, with this character.
It is certainly awkward to have to say Character A. is with Character B. when character C. shows up, and wants a pairing. Then when Character D. joins the game - and you have to tell them the same thing. Or even if you just don't like the pairing at all....
