...Didn't you just answer your own question? In a sea of crap, sometimes it's hard to find the good stuff... And then people don't notice right away.

I know perfectly awesome writers who aren't BNFs, and perfectly popular writers who I think suck. So? It's a tight fandom. If you write goodfic, word will get around. If you write goodfic, hell, rec it to me and I'll TELL people about it who will care.

If you REALLY want to be a BNF, though, start buying up rarepair doujin and posting it. Or the CDs. Or DVDs. See? Nobody wants to do that. It costs money.

So, really, just be patient or hush.

Why in god's name would anyone wanna be a BNF in PoT anyway? Have they not SEEN the shit the BNFs around here go through? Nobody likes them. I doubt even their followers actually like them.

That really depends on who you think is a BNF. I have a few people on my friend list who I consider to be BNFs, and I like them quite a bit. I'm not a "follower" by any means, but a friend.

There are some BNFs in the fandom I really don't like, though.

So just who IS a BNF in the fandom? :/ I've heard some names tossed around (well, bookshop is pretty much everywhere), but I just go for the authors I find that I like, so it's hard to say. :O

To me, a BNF is someone who is widely read or provides a lot of things. A name you'll recognize. So in a fandom as big as Tenipuri, it's going to vary from person to person. As for my personal preferences, well... That's not really something I feel comfortable discussing outside of my personal journal, and I really don't think this is the place for it.

Well, I don't talk about it very much, and there's a lot of.... er.... other stuff in my journal. But if you'd like to friend me, sure. ^^ But I don't promise to be coherent.
