OMG why did they make so many sequels to such an amazing movie and why are none of them like the first one AT ALL

A quick peek into Horror movie history will solve this question. John A. Russo and George Romero co-wrote 1968's Night of the Living Dead. After the movie was released they suffered from artistic differences and went their separate ways. Part of the financial division granted Russo the right to use the "Night of the Living Dead" in his future movies. That's why Romero's, MUCH MUCH better zombie movies, that followed the same basic story are Dawn and Day of the Dead. Russo continued the "NOTLD" franchise but he isn't the artist that Romero is and has never been able to match Romero's zombie movies. Romero wrote Night, Dawn and Dead to go together.

Probably way more than wanted to know but that's why every other "NOTLD" movie is so sucky.

No, no, no
I know that Return of the Living Dead has nothing to do with any of the Romero movies. I'm just saying, I love the hell out of that movie (you can't go wrong with punk rockers + zombies + Clu Gulager + that badass soundtrack) and I don't get why it got so many sequels, none of which are anything like the original movie.

Of course I like the Romero movies, that goes without saying, but I think Return is pretty amazing as well

...I didn't even know there were two sets of sequels. My zombie-movie education has been remiss.
