I never got the chance to play Super Mario Sunshine; why is it disliked?

Probably because Mario's equipped with a water gun to platform with, and some folk found the "cleaning" sections to be a chore. That's a couple of the gripes I've heard anyway.

That's my little sister's absolute favourite game, so you're not that alone. I liked it as well, but mostly because Isle Delfino is so pretty and the music was so lovely.

I really love that game! I think it might be my favorite too. I realize that a lot of my love for it is probably nostalgia and associating good memories with it (it was my first Gamecube game and I used to play it all the time with my best friend), but still. <3 It's one of those "comfort games" for me that never fails to make me feel happy when I start it up, even if it's been a really long time.

When I bought my GameCube, there was a promotion: a choice between a package with Metroid Prime and TLOZ: The Wind Waker and another one with Metroid Prime and Super Mario Sunshine. I still don't know if I chose wisely. (The Wind Waker was awesome, but Sunshine looked so fun as well.)

I think that Super Mario Sunshine is a very underrated game; I enjoyed the hell out of it! I think that Super Mario Galaxy is BETTER, but Sunshine was for sure a really fun game.

Still haven't played Galaxy but god, Sunshine is just plain my favorite Mario game ever. It's so comforting and satisfying and I don't think I've ever even been frustrated by a level or anything. I wish I knew where my disc was right now :[

I loved sunshine! but damn, I remember that giant stingray level would give my anxiety a spike. That and the racing levels, I'd get so stressed out.

I really liked it too! I may have liked it better than Mario 64. I unfortunately haven't played Galaxy though.

As a self-professed Mario nut, I still haven't played this game. I don't have an aversion to it, it's just that I haven't gotten around to buying it yet.
