At least they used that sweet Alan Davis illustration, though. (Too bad it had to be cropped or we could all grin at the site of the background Avengers basically standing around obviously thinking "Aw look, they do love each other!")

Given all the interview excerpts from both RDJ and Chris Evans gushing about each other (granted, out of context as they probably are) I don't think you'll have to worry much anon ^^.

There's already fanservice (of the destined-to-be-BFFs initially butting heads variety) in the trailer, so I really wouldn't worry about it.

That's not fan service. It's characterization.

To some of us THAT's fanservice. Particularly in movie adaptations. :V

Me too! And I don't feel like the trailer sets up BFFs at all, it makes it sound like they're going to be all antagonistic and angry at each other. I actually get anxious when I think about it... And then I remember it's a movie, and it's pathetic to be anxious. And then I try to think about something else.

9'm pretty sure RDJ could make sexual chemistry with a particularly friendly cactus do i donn't think you have anything to worry about there. idk i dont think i will like the dynamic betwen chris evans and RDJ. i wish they had hired someone old ar as Steve becauser Tony respects teve a lot it's going to be strange when steve is so much toyuonger.

why is it a secret, tho, op? i think that's a popular opinion/concern in the avengers fandom, at least on lj and tumblr.

i'm looking more forward to cap-thor interactions, personally. evans makes a decent cap and rdj makes a really good tony, but the visual of them together as steve-and-tony seems so wrong.

That is one of my favorite posts from that tumblr. Who cares what that anon says about supposed "logic!fail"---this would definitely happen.

Judging by the trailer, and this is just my opinion, they'll be angry at each other first and be all manly and stubborn and superheroes-must-fight-each-other-before-they-can-become-a-team thingy blablablah, then as the story progresses, they'll become friendlier and actually really like each other. I imagine a similar story for Justice League when it comes out.

Thing is, there could already be some amazing "fanservice" during the whole angry-at-each-other phase, like eye fucking from across the room and throwing teasing one-liners at each other and whathaveyou. It's not just the "oh, so we're buddies now?" phase that should be interesting IMO. :D

Somewhat agreed? I think there will be shippiness no matter what because they're STEVE and TONY and that's just what fandom does. They'll reinterpret everything to ensure it. ;)

But... While I do love the antagonism angle in a lot of my ships, I'm really more worried they won't be besties by the end. That's what I need in my SteveTony interactions. I read some people theorizing that they're setting up for a Civil War type event somewhere in future movies, and it would kill me if they didn't lay the groundwork for the epic friendship first.

What will happen is the beginning of a friendship. Whatever else you see is what you want too see. There are way, way more fanboys than fangirls in comics and, well, Steve and Tony aren't gay

About slash, I think I'm of the few of the one who enjoys Caps/Falcon couple way more than him with Bucky or Tony . I love him and Diamondback too.
