These dream secrets are driving me insane. It would be alright if they were something like, "My dream helped me to do this," etc. But just saying, "I DREAMED OF A CELEBRITY AND HE WAS HOT (AKA No. 42)," is not only a boring secret but not a secret. So you have sex dreams? Congratulations, welcome to human existence. It's pretty likely that if you think about someone obsessively, they will eventually pop up in a dream.

Can we please, please, please, PLEASE do a vote on if we should keep them in?

This is a consequence of a very serious underlying issue:

People think we care about every inane thing that goes through their minds. We don't. Unless it's something relative to our interest, we don't really care.

We've all been guilty of this at some point.

In fact, I'm guilty of this, as I expect people to come flocking to reply to my comment and praise my insight. :P

But a thought is totally acceptable to talk about, a dream really isn't unless it provokes action. Everyone knows that dreams aren't really indicative of anything. They are a random mess of forgotten memories and recycled faces. And even if you do believe they mean something, we don't know about your life so they don't have meaning to us!

It's alright to want comments if you're secret MEANS something!! lol

I actually went back and looked at the comm's earliest posts a while ago, and overall the quality wasn't much better than what we get now. Maybe a little less, some days.

Yes, a lot of the dream secrets suck. But we don't need any more secrets sent to the failbar. The comm barely has any secrets as it is. Do we really want to keep reducing the number of acceptable secrets?!

I think 30 secrets a day is just fine anything over that is just a bonus. If cutting out the dream secrets means that we cut out probably only two-five secrets per post then it's not going to reduce numbers by that much (If dream secrets were cut out of todays, it would only reduce the numbers from 47 to 46. Hardly a massive dent). The best example about quality over quantity is PostSecrets. They hardly have any secrets but they are so fantastic that they can sustain a whole week.

Maybe if people knew that dream secrets were allowed then they would actually write something... dare I say it... interesting.

Last night I had a nightmare about the Holocaust, and it ended with me and every other sympathetic character in the dream being gassed to death.

I have no idea why my brain thought this was relevant, but I spent the entire day today in a horrified fog, having little flashes of the dream. D:

It really depends on the context for me. Like if it was a strange dream and the poster came to a conclusion about something in their life because of it or just anything else besides the dream. But just posting "hai guise, i had dream!" is not a secret and it's boring as hell.

Yeah, I think I'll start doing that. Dream secrets that actually say something besides "I had some dream" would be fine, still - like, we've had ones before where OP dreamed of some sexy character/actor and felt like they were cheating on their IRL partner, that stuff would count. But not the ones that just "lol i had this dream and it was ~wacky~! allow me to tl;dr about it at everyone at large"

That's really fantastic! As I said before, dreams which cause conscious thought and action are fine, they are very interesting. But those ones which are just the celebrity being present are so purposeless! So glad that they are going to be exiting the comm so that the quality secrets can remain!

yeah, the phrase "I had this dream the other night..." is my cue to stop paying attention, especially on an anonymous secrets comm.
