Slightly OT, I just noticed with each regeneration the doctor also ages down.

sadly i think it has more to do with attracting viewers and the perception of relevant/attractiveness than anything mythic to the doctor

I noticed that ages ago. I know it's probably just making the Doctor more attractive to get in more viewers, but I do like to think it's "relevant"/related to the Doctor mythos somehow, anyway. (Plus, how awesome would it be in the distant future to have a kid!Doctor?)

It does sort of look like that at first glance.

With some exceptions. Jon Pertwee was older than Patrick Troughtan, Colin was way older than Peter Davison and Sylvester was older than Peter. It's like he kind of de-aged to Five and then decided he wanted to be older and grumpier for a bit before getting young again. :P
