Overpopulation is a tricky thing. While it has a global impact, many nations have a steady - or even regressing - birth rate, and the latter can be incredibly dangerous. The heart of the problem is overpopulation in some areas, namely third world countries without access to birth control or where the belief that big families represent success is still strong. It's less a matter of nobody having kids ever and more a matter of recognising that population density is the actual issue, and that slowing down reproduction - especially in countries where overpopulation is not actually a big issue - is just as destructive.

So uh, I don't see the problem with shows sometimes including babies in a manner that we all find desirable or whatever.

SERIOUSLY, FUCKING THIS. Can I cap/bookmark this and respond to every "I clearly don't understand a thing about overpopulation but I'm mad about it" secret with it?

Also, most of the shows the OP would be talking about are made by and for people in countries with steady or regressing birth rates.
