Okay, even leaving aside the issue that you are vastly oversimplifying the population distribution problem into "WE NEED LESS BABIES," this secret still makes no sense.

You're basically attacking fictional media for having a prevalence of fictional babies. Not only are these babies fictional, but they're often most popular among people who do not or can not have children of their own. In other words, these people are latching on to ideas of children or fictional children to replace the children they do not have in their own lives. And you want to eliminate that substitution? That's like arguing that the tamagochis (remember those things in Japan? whose popularity spiked as the birth rates went down?) should be banned for glorifying the idea of caring for dependents and thus encouraging overpopulation.

And the "we need less babies" argument is also still pretty BS. It's a complex issue with many facets, several of which have been mentioned above, some of which have not. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is the difference between wanted and unwanted babies -- it's ridiculous to imply that we should deny people who want children and are capable of taking care of them rather than focusing on the people having babies who can't and aren't. As someone did mention above, sex education and the availability of contraception and safe abortion would do far more to control explosive population growth than voluntarily (or involuntarily) setting arbitrary caps on how many wanted babies people are allowed to have.

Another thing to mention is that despite the hysteria over natural resources, we have the technology -- or will shortly have -- to support far more people on this planet than we currently do. Fossil fuels are limited, but nuclear power is much less so. Freshwater is limited, but we CAN purify seawater, we simply don't because it's expensive and too much trouble. We have more than enough arable land, combined with modern farming technologies, to provide enough food for everyone; the problem is simply one of distribution (with social and economic barriers getting in the way.)

The reason for the disparity and the press of overpopulation lies with the fact that the people who have the most resources have the fewest children, and so it is simply not an economic priority for them. Richer people have fewer children, poorer people have more; in part because of the abovementioned birth control issues and in part because poor people tend to need more children for economic support than rich people, for whom they are an economic drain.

I've already rambled on too long and not gotten into half the issues actually addressed in the resource crisis; what it boils down to is that "We should stop having babies because we have too many people" is a sixth-grade argument. Grow up.
