Like where she complains about him "throwing tantrums" and checking in on her sometimes at night to make sure she's okay (er, you didn't seem to have a problem with Edward watching you while you slept all night Bella...) and then in the first book when she says he's ruining her life (I know she's lying, but there is no way she had to be that unnecessarily brutal about it)

But, then, that's book 2, right? And book 2 is quite possibly the worst one out of all the books. (I mean, book 4 has a lot of WTF, but it's not the worst).

(Anonymous) 2011-11-13 12:41 am (UTC)(link)But the second book did give us Bella rolling her eyes a lot at Charlies because he merely suggested that she try to move on with her life after Edward left her.
I mean, I guess it's not really outlandish that a teenage girl believes herself to know better than her father, but it was still pretty annoying to read at times
But yeah, Charlie was pretty great most of the time. He actually reminded me a lot of my own father. He's kind of a goof sometimes, can't cook, doesn't always know the best way to go about handling certain situations, has a little trouble expressing himself emotionally, but he really tries and he's one of the best people I know. I think that's why I hated it so much when Bella completely dismissed him in the books at some points. When she ranted at him in the first book, all I could think was "Wow, I can't even imagine saying anything like that to my own father without feeling guilty for the rest of my life. I hope she grovels to him for forgiveness later"

I guess I just heard about it, and though it was the secind book, lol.
Second book still is the worst, though. "WOAH IS ME, I HAVE NO BOYFRIEND My life is worthless.Lol, Bella isn't going to grovel because she's a douche. I hate her.
I want a book written now about Charlie.... But not written by SMeyer. >:I

For some reason Meyer made all of the characters besides Bella and Edward really interesting. Carlisle has lived for hundreds of years and was one of the first vampires to find killing humans to be wrong, Alice had visions of the future and was put in a mental hospital, Jasper fought in the goddamn civil war as a vampire, Rosalie murdered her rapists (while in her wedding dress. Maybe that part was only in the movie though. Still cool), Emmett got into a fight with a bear (or maybe he was just attacked, I can't remember. I like to think he just went around challenging the wildlife to wrestling matches), and the volturi are pretty neat themselves (especially Aros or whatever his name was who seemed to have history with Carlise. And Jane, that disturbing little girl vampire)

Totally agreed, though I haven't read book 3 or gone beyond the first movie. <3
