NF: I'm sorry you've seen that, and I'm sorry you've had people say that to you - or that they've said that period. LJ really isn't the sanest place when it comes to sj issues, particularly race. [Not that the real world is great, but...] which is why I've found it's just easier, and less stress inducing to skip the threads that start going that route than to read them.

TB1: Well, from what you've said I'm guessing you're probably in high school and in that case I'd say wait until you're out there in the 'real world'. People, as a whole may not be as open minded as you'd like, but there are sub-cultures you can get into to find what you're looking for.
