I'm the same way with Northern Exposure. It's my favorite show, but I haven't seen all of season six. I like knowing there's still something left that I haven't seen.

Honestly, you're not missing much. Joel gets real, everybody else gets fakey, and the attempt to continue with Replacement Joel character is a mess.

My friend lyonesse had some GREAT ideas about how you could've continued the series with a new completely different kind of doctor character - she'd've been a somewhat older doctor from a family of doctors in China raised on and trained in traditional Chinese medicine, and who came to the states to get a western medical degree as well - and we had some fanon about that.

I'd still liked to have seen Series Six filmed our way.

I've seen most of them, and, honestly, the part that kills me the most is Maggie/Chris. WTF? I've seen a few episodes with Wilderness!Joel, too. SO BAD.

I have the DVDs, but I've never been able to watch the whole thing.

I think a female doctor would have brought an interesting dynamic to the show.

that doesn't work though since the whole point of joel's character is to be a straitlaced contrast to the quirky people of cicely. your oc sounds pretty cool, i'd watch an original show about her, but she wouldn't work as a joel replacement.
