Tbh, op, I totally get you. I also have a friend with a lot of issues. And I spend A LOT of time helping her through them. But yes, sometimes I do wish we could just get back to the fandom fun. And yeah, I feel guilty too.

It's kind of a selfish thought, but at least you're recognizing that you're thinking like that. And it's good that you're helping her!

People keep saying it's selfish, but I do wonder about that. Have you ever had a friendship where all you ever do is talk about your friend and their problems alone where it's to the point where you do that more than anything else ever?

Makes you wonder who's being selfish.

OP didn't specify if their friend's problems were all they were talking about now, but this is definitely a good point. I've been on the other end of that and it sucks.

I think it would be more worrying if you didn't realize that it was at least a little selfish.

Like others above said, it's human nature and you're not being a bad person for feeling like this.

Personally, I'm proud of you for being there for your friend despite it all. :)

I don't even think it's as selfish as you may think. If you're genuine about wanting to make her feel better, there's nothing wrong with having some thoughts like that at the back of your head. As long as they don't grow and become the majority of the reason why you're helping her.
