True. Although it's noticeable that a lot of the jazz greats - Billie Holiday, for instance - marketed themselves initially an awful lot on looks.

Actually, though, this was part of my beef with the secret's phrasing. Makes it sound (to me) like "this is and was and always will be", and actually the complete focus on looks is a TV-era thing. (And it bothers me that so many people focus on Adele's looks at all, in either direction - yes, she's beautiful, but I think it's just as insulting to insinuate that she's "talented-but-ugly" as to insinuate she got where she is by being hot. I'd rather just enjoy the goddamn music)

...wow, that was a long parenthesis APPARENTLY I HAVE OPINIONS ON THIS WHOLE BUSINESS. Sorry. XD
