I don't know. I think it can be fun, but I also think that any community based largely on complaining about or making fun of something has a lot of potential to get nasty, especially when it has to do with something like fic where it can get personal pretty easily.

I actually like that fanficrants is generally inclined to call out any really assholish or annoying behavior. The problem, of course, is that sometimes it will get taken too far and become more about bullying than standing up for someone. I just don't think the community would be all sunshine and roses if that didn't happen. It's a rant community. It can be fun and there can be nice discussions, but it's also a place that attracts people who like to rant and complain a lot. That's going to result in some fights no matter what.
