Sinfest is a quality little comic and has been going on since the beginning of internet time so I sort of feel beholden to it. But it has next to nothing in common with the sorts of things the original secret is ragging on OR the things people are bringing up as examples in this thread. I mean the only similarities they all have is basically that they are all sequential art. But considering that I often read a few months of Sinfest backlog in backwards chronological order and it doesn't lose much in translation makes me question even that. I mean okay probably the most similar "graphic novel" to Sinfest that I can think of is Bone, considering the tone and the art style, but even that is like lightyears apart. I love them both but I'm not going to offer one as a replacement for the other.

Back when I was all into the webcomics "scene", Sinfest was the butt of many a joke. But it has persisted and sustained and incrementally improved (color fullsized sundays!) whereas most of the big deals from a decade ago have shriveled up and died or the creators have moved on to completely unrelated things. Sinfest isn't "generic" but there's definitely something about it that's "classic", if you will. I think that's a good thing but plenty of people avoid that sort of quality.
