I'm not the OP, but I agree with the secret. I'm glad you enjoy this world, but I find it dull as well. As for me, I'd find it more interesting to have something new and exciting every day instead of wake up, work, eat, sleep, wake up, work, eat, sleep.

And please no comments like 'life is what you make of it'. I'm talking about interesting things like exploring somewhere no one has been before, being a part of an adventure, etc. Not going out to a night club and getting drunk off my ass. woo, so fun.

But if you lived in a fantasy world like, say, Middle Earth, what else do you think you'd be doing? Wake up, work, eat (if you have the food available), sleep, etc. It's like visiting a foreign country on vacation. It's beautiful, exciting, fascinating...until you stay there long enough and realize that everyone there is doing exactly the same thing you were doing at home: working, eating, sleeping, etc. Just in a slightly different locale. The grass is always greener.

More or less everything I wanted to say! We only hear about the exciting moment of Middle-earth, the tales of the heroes. Most of the citizens are living their standard Medieval-quality life.

There are lots of adventures to be had in our little world that don't have anything to do with going out to a night club. There are actually places out there where no one-- or at least, very very few people-- has ever been before. They're just way off the beaten path. Which is why people don't go there. But it's the same as in Middle Earth. Hell, that's the whole POINT of Bilbo's story-- he just wants to live his boring life, same thing day in and day out, and then he gets forced into an adventure. So there are plenty of denizens of fantasy worlds who don't have adventures. They'd probably faint at the idea of being able to climb into a metal tube and arrive on the other side of the planet less than a day later.

I think the what OP (and anon) really want "more than this provincal life!". :P

Yes, that's nearly always the case, and there's nothing wrong with that kind of peaceful dreaming.

wake up, work, eat, sleep, wake up, work, eat, sleep.

Okay, so, my entire knowledge of anything Middle Earth-related comes from a youth community theater production of The Hobbit, but I believe that's exactly what the entire life of your typical hobbit was like. And then this one rogue hobbit named Bilbo Baggins came along, and broke the mold, and had crazy adventures, and like stole some trolls' mutton or something, and for some reason there was lots of singing, and something about a ring, idk.

My point is: even in fantasy worlds, most people are just going about their day to day lives herding nerfs, or bartending at their local space bar, or repairing vending machines in deep space, and then having a few drinks with their alien/dwarf/werewolf/hobbit bros on the weekend, and doing it all again the next week and the next until they die. If you want an adventure, join the Peace Corps, or learn to spelunk, or make the wrong friends and get mixed up with the criminal element, or something.
