No, I mean, I'm sure they got his intellectual intelligence right. But, he was naive to the point of stupidity about his work, his future/career, and his friends. His emotional/social intelligence was nil. I don't think he'd be taking over any worlds. He should have known not to trust that SOB Thomas Edison is all I'm saying.

It's interesting, actually, I think the show has done quite a good job blending those well-known parts of his (the real Tesla's) character with the obvious difference becoming a vampire and living for 160 years would make. Sanctuary-Tesla wants to rule the world because A) vampires are superior beings, and B) because he wants to bring a golden age of enlightenment, reason, and harmony to the world. Where everyone is nice to each other, peaceful, and devote themselves to science and the arts. Only... no one else wants that and he doesn't really get why. (In the show's canon he hilariously invented a death ray, and then distributed the plans to every major power on earth, with the intent that if everyone had the ability to take out anyone else, all the countries would make friends and be forced into a state of peace - which totally failed and kicked off the Cold War. He's still bitter about how that turned out.) So he's basically just endlessly disappointed by people, and at this point he's taken on the role of snarky megolomaniac who doesn't like anyone while secretly being a giant naive wooby who loves everyone. It's adorable and he's basically the greatest character on the show.

And yes, he totally hates Edison.

Yay, Sanctuary is awesome for more reasons than Tesla! It's a Syfy show, halfway through season 4 at the moment. There's a new episode (with Tesla!) tomorrow/Tuesday (though it's usually on Friday, some weird scheduling thing). Enjoy!
