:( I never really liked her, but subjective taste aside she was an assertive lady who knew what she wanted, and I can respect that. :)

+1

[identity profile] megalomaniageek.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
Me too.

(Anonymous) 2011-12-06 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
I like her as a Muppet, but if she was a RL person I'd think she was a selfish, abusive bitch.

(Anonymous) 2011-12-06 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
She may be an exaggerated stereotype, but she knows what she wants, she goes for it, and even though people are constantly insulting her looks and her talent she still believes in herself 100%. There's a lot there to admire. :)

Yay Miss Piggy!

(Anonymous) 2011-12-06 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
I always disliked her and felt so bad for poor Kermit. Ugh.

It's so ollolollololl funny when it's a creepy abusive woman stalking a guy, but if Piggy was a boy and Kermit was a girl, you guys would be frothing all over the place. :/

(Anonymous) 2011-12-06 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
FFS, they're Muppets. It would also be creepy and criminal if real people went around molesting chickens, beating animals on the head to make a musical instrument, or, y'know, exploding things left right and center. To say nothing of what Beaker goes through.

(Anonymous) 2011-12-06 09:00 am (UTC)(link)
it must suck being such a joyless human being that you can't enjoy something as harmless as the muppets without finding some pointless social justice issue to get upset about. they're muppets, not people. i very much doubt anyone is going to take any negative life lessons from miss piggy catapulting kermit across a room or beaker having his face blown off.

+all the points

(Anonymous) 2011-12-06 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't like her for that reason either. :( And I love the Muppets. I just learned to ignore her.

[identity profile] innocentsmith.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
MISS PIGGY FAN FOR LIFE. My first Halloween costume at age two was Piggy, and I've never stopped loving her.

Also, an embarrassing number of my fandom OTPs have elements of the Kermit/Piggy dynamic. (Mind you, I like a lot of enemy ships.) I got kind of weepy at all the shippy stuff in the latest movie, for real.

[identity profile] izzy-the-hutt.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
Her confronting him about his commitment issues was the best part for me, not going to lie.

(Anonymous) 2011-12-06 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I saw the movie with an ex-boyfriend that I'm trying to be friends with but we're still in sort of an awkward area, thinking, surely, the Muppets would be safe territory.

Yeeeeeeaahhhhhhhhhhhhh.

[identity profile] izzy-the-hutt.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, I know I shouldn't be laughing at this, but I'm so sorry anon, I am. I could understand the awkwardness there. XD

(Anonymous) 2011-12-06 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
It's okay. I kind'a had to laugh, too. It was so made of awkward that there was really no other choice. ;)

While I appreciate the surprise!Latin, I don't think saying a dead thing is only a good thing is appropriate to this secret. Unless, Miss Piggy was once an assassin?

[identity profile] murderershair.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
Sorta OT, but I heard a story that Miss Piggy was based off of Henson's high school French teacher, and ever since I've had the hilarious mental image of a RL Miss Piggy grading papers.
ext_405598: (bang bang)

[identity profile] murderershair.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
*wait, it might not have been the French teacher of Henson himself, but one of the Muppet designers, anyway.

[identity profile] slian-martreb.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
I don't like her as a character, but damn -- she was FABULOUS in the movie. My God, those hats! At one point, I turned to my husband and asked if I could be her when I grow up.

(Growing up apparently still hasn't happened following marriage and two kids.)

[identity profile] xanykaos.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
I felt the same way. Normally, Piggy is just too mean and self-absorbed for me (it's funny, but only in small doses), but she freaking owned in the latest movie. So poised, so collected, so--as you say--fabulous. Just a driven woman who knew what she wanted and wouldn't settle for anything less. Dang, I want to be her.

[identity profile] zerstoerung.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
Oh man, I love Miss Piggy. she's just so...human. And then she goes and arrives for Christmas at Mama Fozzie's house with a sleigh of huskies, being fabulous and not fazed by the billzard. So classy.

[identity profile] hideincarnate.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
I agree with this secret.
