Totally agree about female celebs being called "ugly" when they take their makeup off. Also, it's a little annoying when they get called out on "fashion faux pas" when they're clearly just running to the grocery store or whatever. Sorry, People Magazine: no one regularly wears their Manolo Blahniks to Walgreens.

And I'm loving BCoop's bedhead.

[identity profile] darknyss.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Much as I love the Fug girls, if celebs are going nowhere 'official', they can run around in whatever clothes they damn well feel like, just like the rest of the world.

Duh! Manolo Blahniks are for grocery shopping.

The new winter line of Coach purses and trademark Hermes scarf are for Walgreens!

K.Stew actually looks like she has character in that picture. She actually looks like someone I wouldn't mind seeing more of there.

(Anonymous) 2011-12-06 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
In my opinion, she looks prettier in that picture than in the movies/official photos.

I know! I think she looks pretty cool/cute!

[identity profile] 8bitcat.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 08:42 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed.

Usually, it just irks me because of how plastic she looks.
But I didn't even recognize her, here.
She actually looks... human!

Whoa, I didn't even realise it was Kristen. I thought it was the chick who played Leeloo in that Bruce Willis movie where Gary Oldman dressed like a fruitcake from space.

i know, several of them would totally be considered good-looking if not beautiful by non-celebrity standards

sigh

[identity profile] ionizable.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
god, i love scruffy cooper

[identity profile] sanstexte.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
Scruffy Bruce Willis is like a badass Santa. How can anyone not like scruffy Bruce?

[identity profile] joshua-glass.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
>.>;;

I would sit on that Santa's lap.

[identity profile] helenadax.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I like that kind of pictures and I think it's great to remember that they're humans too and that most of the times they look so, so gorgeous because of the make-up, the lights... Besides, I'm sure most of them enjoy wearing comfy clothes and don't feel the need to look stunning all the time.

[identity profile] fickletastictot.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
That knitted beret looks adorable on HBC. :B

She's got great bone structure so she's still stunning without makeup, tbh.

I don't even follow celeb websites but I love pictures like that.

I think it's stupid to expect celebrities to look like they spend hours in front of a mirror every damn minute.

[identity profile] citrinesunset.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, I never would have recognized Bruce Willis with that beard.

But yeah, I just find this sort of thing sad. It feels like an indication of how unrealistic society can be when it comes to looks, that there's this idea that celebrities are supposed to look flawless without any effort.

[identity profile] cloud-riven.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Did not recognize those people at first, but holy crow they really cool there \:D/

Also, word, OP. WORD.

[identity profile] streetcake.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
If they wear a lot of make-up in order to look acceptable, then people make fun of them for looking like a clown or something. If they don't wear makeup, they're made fun of for looking -gasp- less than remarkable! Or, like, there's this black n white view people have, that in Hollywood you're either gorgeous or hideous. There's no 'average' or 'pretty-but-plain' or any other type of in-between.

It sucks, but media has been raising standards which causes a sense of entitlement and expectation from the viewers, and it creates a vicious cycle or more raised standards and entitlement.

Side note, everyone in this secret looks fiiiiiine as hell as far as I'm concerned. Mmm-Mm!
ext_19953: (it's just an object. (in SPAAAAACE))

[identity profile] mutantjules.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
I so hear this. (also, I just....genuinely like how each of them looks in those pictures, idk)

[identity profile] robintheshrew.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
Honesty time: I saw the pic of scruffy Bradley and was like HNNNNNNNNNNNNNG

(Anonymous) 2011-12-06 11:57 am (UTC)(link)
I like seeing photos of celebs caught in their sweats trying to sneak out to the store for a quick errand or after a really long flight. It humanizes them and reminds us all they're just like us. I also think it helps bring egos back down to Earth by reminding them too.

[identity profile] mythopathy.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Helena Bonham Carter in what looks like the pj bottoms that I own and in a woolly gabardine overcoat is currently my favourite pic ever. Trufax.

[identity profile] twyla-hime.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 09:10 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed. No one is going to look picture perfect 24/7.

But sometimes I wonder if all that nasty criticism may come from a backlash; of people that are sick of putting celebs on pedestals, or feeling insecure about themselves based on impossible Hollywood beauty standards.

[identity profile] sakurariddles.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I so agree with this and all the other comments. I mean they are human just like the rest of us, some might just be a bit more plastic. I love the fact that they look imperfected. To be honest, when I see a scruffy pic of an celeb that I like, it usually makes me like them even more. The humanity makes them more likeable to me.
