Oh, some people think (and maybe there's some truth to it) that John and Paul we weirdly rivaling each other with their women. After John got with Yoko, he "changed" (AKA was actually able to be himself and discovered there was more to his life than the fucking Beatles), and at the same time Paul rather quickly met Linda and then actually married her quite quickly, before John married Yoko. It all happened very fast. Paul and Linda also began to almost immediately start popping out babies (in addition to the one Linda already had from a previous relationship), so naturally their lives began to diverge in very separate ways. People like to blame women because people want scapegoats.

Frankly, as soon as Brian Epstein accidentally overdosed in 1967, I think the Beatles had had it, and I think they knew it. Without Brian's guiding hand to sort things and smooth things, they all slowly spiralled out of control, because really, who else was going to tell one of the Beatles no?


Frankly, the group probably should've broken up in 1967 or 1968 (despite how much I do love some of the later albums). I think if they had, they would've all remained much closer friends, going their separate ways, but having reunions and maintaining a friendship. Instead, it was a toxic relationship where they were forced to spend all their time together until it grew to absolute resentment.(And for THAT I blame Paul, because the rest tried to quit/get out many times before, and Paul kept forcing them to stay together--until HE finally wanted out, and quit publically just before putting out his first solo album. Yup.)

Aaand that's enough Beatles ramble from me today.

And for THAT I blame Paul, because the rest tried to quit/get out many times before, and Paul kept forcing them to stay together--until HE finally wanted out, and quit publically just before putting out his first solo album. Yup.

Hmm, no.

JOHN wanted to leave. He was the one who wanted the "divorce" from the Beatles and he got it, but they all agreed to keep their break-up under wraps until Let it Be came out. Unfortunately for Paul, he answered a questionarre in which he stated "no" to the question of "will you write with John again?" (paraphrasing that) and the MEDIA exploded that into a headline like "McCartney Quits Beatles" and then the shit hit the fan. It wasn't PAUL'S fault. Also, there is no way in hell Paul FORCED any one of them to stay in the band. What was he doing, holding them at gun point? They all stayed longer than they should have of their own volition, and placing blame on one of them (or Yoko or Linda) is just ridiculous.

That's always been my understanding of the situation, yeah.

Then again I never know people put so much blame on Linda. I thought it was strictly a Yoko-hating club going. But then I hung with Beatles fans, not John/Paul shippers, so maybe that's part of it.
