No kidding.

lol. You know, seriously, I'm kind of laughing here because for years I was taught and told what you just said, that fat people shouldn't wear tight clothing. My mother verbally and emotionally abused me for years because I was fat, and constantly bought me clothing that was two or even three sizes too large because it would "make me look smaller" and "fitted clothes will make you look fatter!" When I was old enough to make my own clothing decisions and secure enough in my body to try, I bought fitted and, yes, even tight clothing and discovered, to my surprise, that not only were they more comfortable, but I looked fucking amazing in them. My self-esteem skyrocketed. So your telling me that fat and tight clothes don't go together just really makes me think back to that and smile, because I know now that I don't have to listen to what bigoted jerks tell me about how to dress.

It's a valid assumption. Those who pick on others for their body and/or appearance are, more often than not, insecure about their own bodies and appearances. No one would pick on anyone else if they didn't feel they got some benefit out of it - a sense of superiority, a feeling of validation in themselves, or an alleviation of insecurities, for example. People who are truly secure in who they are don't judge and hate like this.

People do have unpopular opinions. However, when those opinions verge into the realm of bigotry (and anti-fat/fatphobia is a form of bigotry), they should look to correcting their "opinions" and being respectful to people as human beings, not continuing to hate on them.

P.S. I'm not telling you the above story because I'm looking for validation, or anything like that. More to demonstrate the real and harmful effects of fatphobia in a minor way, and to relate why, exactly, I find your comment so damn funny.

ok well i think maybe we're taking each other's comments on how clothing fits to the extreme. i'm not saying fat people should wear fucking tents everywhere because yeah that looks terrible. i'm also not saying they can slink into a herve leger and look good. there IS an in between, and some people (getting back to the main point here, COSPLAYERS) fail to recognize this.

i'm pretty sure my opinion isn't going to be corrected any time soon. i do not find fat people appealing or attractive, period. i definitely don't laugh in their faces or even snicker behind their backs but i don't enjoy seeing women and/or men walking around with their guts hanging out of their shirts. it has nothing to do with how i see myself and it doesn't give me any sort of "validation". i just plain don't like it. that's it.

The fact that you think women should be most concerned about how appealing they might look indicates that you are pretty fucking sexist.

Well, I don't really think anyone should slink into a Herve Leger dress because they're hideous and most of them look like ugly slips to me, but...

Seriously though, you're saying that fat people shouldn't wear tight clothing. I'm saying that's bullshit. Saying it like it's a law is, well, stupid, especially since many fat women look completely amazing in form-fitting clothing. This isn't to say that some people don't dress in a way that is unflattering, or silly, but that applies to thin people just as much as fat people - and yet I have yet to see anyone start shit about skinny girls who wear transparent leggings as pants around these parts, just fat people who ~dare to wear clothes that fit them well or reveal more skin than whoever-it-is thinks they should be allowed to.

You know, good for you, what-the-fuck-ever. But the fact remains that you are here judging fat people as a group and trying to dictate what they can and can't wear, making sure to remind fat people that the only people who could ever possibly be attracted to them are fetishizers and that no one could genuinely just be sexually attracted to a fat person, etc... not only is it bullshit, but it's bigoted, fatphobic bullshit, and you should change your point of view to be less, well, fatphobic.
