In order or enjoyment, for myself and most it was novels >>> manga >>> anime, and I still loved the anime (probably since I saw it first). The novels are chock full of so many lines and passages that paint a much more complicated picture of Shion's and Nezumi's relationship, but that's all for the better :) The translations are up through the first few novels I think, and then there are detailed summaries available for the others. I'm still working through the Japanese novels, but they're so good *_____*

The manga so far is really good with keeping a lot of key scenes from the novels that were absent or altered in the anime, so it's a lot more faithful to the novels (and so keeps in all of the really implicative dialogue, like Shion asking Nezumi how he should describe how he feels about Nezumi if 'I'm drawn to you' isn't appropriate--suggesting instead, "Should I say 'I love you', then?"), but it's also a lot slower to be released (last I saw they've only just met up with Inukashi in the scanlations).

Thankyou for all the information <3. I'm guessing the manga hasn't been licensed then? (Scanlations take me back to my youth <3).

Not yet! Though some of the recent scanlations have been taken over by a team that unfortunately scanlates from the Chinese, and the telephone translations are a bit awkward unfortunately :/ Still, the manga art is beautiful~ You can find it on most major manga reader sites :D
