Okay I don't read BL any more (I just prefer slash, having not to wade through for good fic is... time efficient) but I wanted to share some authors you should definitely check out. My taste is basically anything that breaks the tired uke/seme tropes.

Est Em - Tableau Numero 20/Sakuhin Number 20
Art-related. Very pretty art. Quiet story. (No overblown drama or anything.) Great read.

basso - Kumo to interi
The first story has an openly-gay politician and a waiter. Very cute. Is set not in Japan, which is refreshing.

S - Aida Saki (novel)
I'm sorry I forgot what this is about but I REALLY liked the dynamics of this one.

Bi no Isu - Ike Reibun
I'm reccing this because I like D/s themes and yakuza, and I think the 'uke' in this case is definitely... well. He's very devoted. He's kickass though. :)

Gerard et Jacques - Yoshinaga Fumi
Set during/before French Revolution.

Yamashita Tomoko - Anything by her. She has a certain sense of realism in her stories that really make them read more like... idk, movies or novels rather than "BL manga", term which has a certain connotation to it. I adore her work.

And another anon replied with Yoneda Kou and that guy with the scars fetish story? THAT. Really great story.

You should check out these authors' other works as well. Brilliant.
