For the longest time, I just thought they were some kind of hat she was wearing. (Which, you know, technically was true, since that's what it was for the actresses, BUT...) I don't even remember what it was that clicked 'no, that's her hair.' I didn't even get it when those little episode novelizations that they put out said that about her, I just skipped past that part of her description.
