Oh good, it's not just me. I dunno if it's my Jewishness coming out, but I always have to have someone else point out that a Bible allegory is being made. Even in Harry freaking Potter I went to Harry = Sailor Moon before Harry =Jesus

I'd say Harry = Harry. I don't honestly think a Jesus allegory was intended there >B( (see? this is how I get about it lol)

But yeah, I assume that people who are more concerned about Jesus are more likely to notice it.

Huh, I wasn't Jewish my whole life and thought I could spot a Jesus figure but I never thought of Harry as one either. A traditional hero, sure, but not that so much.

Unfortunately, no... to be honest it was in a a report my daughter did for school. She had to cite someone as a Jesus figure in her English class and she picked Inu-Yasha. But when you think about it there's a bit there -- he was, um, pierced onto a tree, and he was quasi-resurrected.

There's also the idea that his mother was human and his father wasn't but I'm not sure she went there in the report.

Huh... That actually sounds kind of interesting. I don't know who I'd pick for that kind of report, so the fact that she picked Inuyasha makes me lol in a good way. :)

Yeah I agree that Harry isn't a Jesus figure. I think that is just people looking too hard, and if you really look, you'll find Jesus "references" in every fucking main character ever because Jesus is created to embody the ideal traits of human personalities.

I got to read Harry Potter in Catholic school as a youngster, so maybe the Jesus comparison made the teachers more comfortable about letting kids read a book accused of leading kids to Wicca and the Occult.
