Yeah, OP, I'm going to have to agree with everyone else on the "pair the spares" thing being uncalled for. Many Scotty/Uhura fans like the pairing for its own sake. It's my second favorite Uhura ship (after Spock/Uhura). Because I multiship and have multiple head canons, I'm as likely to stick Scotty/Uhura in the background of my Kirk/Spock as I am Bones/Chapel in everything else. I like alot of pairings.

BUT if what you really dislike is slash writers clumsily disposing of Uhura by writing her out of the story by sticking her with another guy and dropping her from the narrative...yeah, that's annoying. Agreed.
