That's the reason I don't do zombie films. I have a too-active imagination for any kind of horror.

[identity profile] amethyst-rei.livejournal.com 2011-12-14 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
I've been in a BIZARRE (for me) horror-movie mood as of late (bizarre, because before I couldn't even look at a horror movie without freaking out), but I generally can't watch horror movies, either. And like you, Zombie movies are worst (after torture movies (think: Saw, Hostel, etc). It's insane, but Zombies fall into that "could be possible so I don't dare watch" category. It's probably silly to have a fear that scientists/the government/etc will one day create an infection that'll turn us all into Zombies (or something like'em) but there it is.

When asked what's the worst way to die, most people say stuff like plane crash and drowning. Me? The first thing I think of is shit like being tortured, being eaten, zombie/alien invasions, burning alive, and so on.

:(

It's not that I can't understand being freaked out by a scary show or movie, but - Supernatural? Of all the shows out there?

Then again, I spent my formative years being convinced velociraptors would come in the night and eat me, so I can't really judge >|

[identity profile] estellasharina.livejournal.com 2011-12-14 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
After watching the Jurrassic Park movies for the first time as a kid I spent ages being unable to look out my bedroom window at night (my bedroom was on the third floor) because I was so afraid that there would be a T.Rex out there. :p

The thing I like about Supernatural is that I can generally watch the episodes, be scared shitless while watching, but not be bothered after I turn it off. Except for Bloody Mary. That's the one episode I haven't watched more than once. ._.

[identity profile] gabrielsoboe.livejournal.com 2011-12-14 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Oh dear god, I hated Jurassic Park because I gain an unexplainable fear of meat-eating dinosaurs.

[identity profile] rivulet027.livejournal.com 2011-12-14 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed.

[identity profile] faithgrowsold.livejournal.com 2011-12-14 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
Bloody Mary is my favorite episode omg!

Possibly because it was the only episode that seriously freaked out all my friends who grew up watching Xfiles. I felt so validated.

(Oh, and the use of Laugh, I Nearly Died at the end of the episode. Seriously brilliant musical moment right there)

[identity profile] mutantjules.livejournal.com 2011-12-14 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
I had nightmares about those goddamn raptors as a kid too. I still love Jurassic Park, loved it even then, I'd just be clutching my blanket to my ears in the night, convinced they were about to open my door

and no lie, just cause Supernatural's so ~dramatic, don't think it can't scare the hell out of grown-ass men. I know 3 different horror fans aside from me who love that show, cause for something produced on a teen network it's pretty fucking impressive in that way. (My favourite explanation was my friend Waldo. He mentioned it in passing, and I boggled at him "YOU WATCH SUPERNATURAL???!!" and he said "Man, I know it's a chick show, but it's fuckin' scary!" Best.)

(Anonymous) 2011-12-14 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
I was actually completely unafraid of the dinosaurs. However, I was convinced that the guard rails on my bed could somehow become an electrified fence.

[identity profile] cristiline.livejournal.com 2011-12-14 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
But you need quite a lot of salt to make a circle big enough to protect you.

[identity profile] amethyst-rei.livejournal.com 2011-12-14 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
This.

*Coughs and points to sack of rock salt in the boot of her car*

Its not that I necessarily believe any of it,same reason I'll never say 'bloody Mary' in a mirror- I don't believe anything is going to happen, but just to be on the safe side, I'll err on the side of superstition.

:D

[identity profile] dougalbug.livejournal.com 2011-12-14 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
The first thing I picked out from your comment was the use of "boot" :D

<333333333333333

I really like that. (Getting into SPN has...not ruined, but definitely changed my horror-movie viewing experience. No matter what kind of freaky-bad thing is hunting our poor hero, I will now without fail start yelling at the screen "SALT THE DOORS AND WINDOWS, IDIOTS!!!!")

[identity profile] scripteens.livejournal.com 2011-12-14 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
This!

And every time I see some idiots reading devil incantations or the like, I always find myself thinking 'the Winchesters are gonna be really pissed with them in a minute...'

Four things you should always have on you: Fire, water, salt and silver. These are purifiers which is why they're used against undead and demons.

I understand the sentiment, OP. In fact, just yesterday I was telling my sister that I was going to buy a huge thing of rock salt and keep it in my room (and carry it whenever I go on vacation and such). I've only just started watching Supernatural (I've seen a few eps before, but I never really sat down to watch the entire thing. I'm halfway into S2 now) and I keep on making note of a whole bunch of silly things to protect me... "just in case".

My family has always been one of those who believed in Spirits and stuff, so there are certain things that REALLY freak me out in that show.

[identity profile] faithgrowsold.livejournal.com 2011-12-14 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
I have an ice cream maker, which for some reason requires having rock salt to mix with the ice. It gives me a really awesome excuse to keep it around my house though.

Also, a little rock sock jar necklace sounds adorable. I want one ):

[identity profile] dougalbug.livejournal.com 2011-12-14 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
I saw these at a general sci-fi convention in London. There was a stall with like, 50 SPN charms to choose from and customise your own necklace.

[identity profile] yogurtpo3.livejournal.com 2011-12-14 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
Really? Supernatural's had the reverse effect on me actually...
I used to be sooo scared of ALL horror movies and the dark and everything (it comes from being exposed to shit scary chinese horror movies at waaay too young an age)... but after I watched Supernatural, every time I felt scared, I just imagined the Winchester boys busting their way in through the door all "DIE, YOU STUPID BITCH!!!" to the monster, and guns blazing... fear, gone!

[identity profile] damnated.livejournal.com 2011-12-14 11:28 am (UTC)(link)
Sadly, watching Supernatural didn't help with my dislike and HUGE FEAR of horror movies. I just can't watch them, not without covering my eyes and ears at some point. :/

(Anonymous) 2011-12-14 01:23 pm (UTC)(link)
That awkward feeling when you are Wiccan and actually believe in the purification/protection of salt (and other elements), and you see this secret...

...and that more awkward feeling when you have never even seen Supernatural.
