I've never been to one, but for some reason I imagine that everyone in a gym is either judging everyone else or fearing that they are being judged.

I, uh, wouldn't worry too much, OP. You are already doing something worthwhile by making the effort to exercise AND by feeling super awesome while doing it.

If you go to a shitty gym then yes. I go to a small weightlifting gym where it's 99,9% guys and no one judges anyone. From the beginning everyone was so helpful even though I'm a 5'5 skinny girl who couldn't do one pull-up.

Just pick a nice gym, not one of those inside shopping malls with glass walls and fake-boobed receptionists.

Nah, seriously, soon as I can join the gym, I'm getting the Aperture tank top. Heck, I bought a black baseball cap and black running shoes with white stripes to help motivate me to run more.

The only thing that people judge you for in the gym is hogging the machines or weights. Seriously, don't text when you're sitting on the only resistance pullup machine, especially if you're a guy. But clothes? No one cares.
